Local fauna can be under threat from loss of habitat, introduced species and domestic pets. The presence of domestic cats from nearby houses can impact on the population of small birds and lizards. Residents are requested to at least keep their cats inside at dusk and dawn, when both cats and native wildlife are most active. Research has shown poorly managed domestic cats, on average, kill 25 native animals per year.
